The broker you meet is the broker you work for
Most brokers manage agents. I am active in representation and purchasing. I underwrite deals and work transactions myself — and that is what you would be learning from. Not a training program. The actual work, from someone doing it with his own money.
Fifteen years in residential, commercial and land, an office of one broker, and no fees of any kind. The trade is plain: the brokerage provides very little and charges you nothing. What you get instead is a broker who picks up the phone when there is a contract on the table at nine at night.
As you encounter the nuances of any type of transaction, you will have a broker behind you that will be able to answer questions most agents cannot.
Who this suits
The agent I am hiring is one who values people and relationships, and who wants to grow as part of a team. For now that team leans on one broker. As it grows, who helps who will shift.
What you keep
80/20 — you keep 80 percent of the commission.

Written down because the argument about a $400 item is always the one nobody had up front.
